Tyneside Art Galleries

BALTIC

The biggest gallery of its kind anywhere in the world, BALTIC presents diverse and dynamic range of contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year. Located on the south bank of the Tyne in a landmark building there are no permanent displays, instead BALTIC constantly showcases new productions – anther reason to return again and again to Newcastle.

Laing Art Gallery

With permanent displays including John Hoyland, Reynolds and John Martin and ever changing catalogue of events, the Laing Art Gallery is considered the north easts premier venue. Just off John Dobson Street, the gallery is approximately 1.5km walk from us.

Historic Attractions

Castle Keep

From the top of the Castle you can enjoy the best views of the city and seven bridges. Fortresses have stood on the site at least since Roman times but the present day keep was erected by Henry II during the twelfth century and is regarded as one of the finest surviving Norman Keeps in the country. Inside the displays take you through the turbulent history including frequent raids by Scots, Civil War sieges and more modern uses as Second World War shelter. If you arrive by train from the north you will get a sneak preview of the Castle Keep as it is situated 10 minutes walk from us adjacent the station.

Metro Radio Arena

Hosting the biggest arena concerts, major conferences, ice-shows and major sporting events, the Metro Radio Arena is only 800m from PREMIER SUITES.

Theatre Royal

Newcastle’s Theatre Royal is the northern home to the Royal Shakespeare Company, Opera North and the Rambert Dance Company. Featuring a wonderful variety of shows the theatre is conveniently located 10 minutes/1km walk from us on Grey Street.

Northern Stage

On the site of the old Newcastle Playhouse about 15 minutes walk from us, Northern Stage includes 3 performance areas for everything from cabaret, comedy and music to classical and operatic productions and incorporates excellent bars and a restaurant, perfect for pre-dinner supper.

Boulevard

Enjoy a sparkling evening’s entertainment where "Burlesque meets Broadway" at Boulevard, located just around the corner from the apartments on Churchill St. Starring Miss Rory and Danni Dee the shows include outrageous comedy, amazing dance routines and glittering costumes to dazzle and delight.

The Sage Gateshead

An amazing home for live music in the north east, The Sage Gateshead hosts every style of concert and festival imaginable including popular, jazz, classical, dance, folk, traditional, Americana and experimental. We recommend taking the Quaylink bus Q1 from Newcastle Central Station to The Sage which run about every 20 minutes and take just 10 minutes to complete the short 2km journey.
